Luke 23: 44-46 (NIV):

It was now about noon, and darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon, for the sun stopped shining. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two. Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.” When he had said this, he breathed his last.

Questions:

Can you imagine what it would have been like to watch this scene unfold: darkness in the middle of the day, the curtain tearing in two?

Does Jesus’ death feel real to you?  What would that have been like if you were one of his followers back then?  Can you imagine the grief, sorrow, and confusion that would have filled your heart?

Prayer:

Father, what was it like to watch your only Son die a painful and horrible death?  At times it is difficult to imagine that Christ’s death could bring about my salvation.
